South Merida Baptist Church

In June of 2009, the Lord allowed a team of leaders from the North Merida Baptist Church to start this new mission work. The church is pastored by Armando Yam who studied in the Bible Baptist Seminary, founded by Missionaries Larry Allred and Don Carney.

This new work is growing and is almost self supporting after less than three years. South Merida is following the example of North Merida by teaching Discipleship classes, planned evangelism, organized prayer meetings, Friday night youth group and Sunday services for adults and children.

MEDICAL MISSIONS

In March of 2002 the Lord presented a very interesting mission opportunity for the North Merida Baptist Church. The pastor, Larry Allred, was asked to come and translate for a group of Doctors who would be offering a free medical clinic with the purpose of opening the doors to evangelize the lost in the city of Valladolid. This city is the 2nd largest city in the state of Yucatan and is just 2 hours from Merida. Larry and his oldest son, Joshua, were able to translate for the physicians and also present the plan of salvation to the majority of the patients. They were able to personally pray with over 150 people who desired to be saved.

Since that first trip, Larry and his family have been able to participate in medical mission campaigns each year in Valladolid and the surrounding villages. They have seen hundreds pray to receive Christ and thousands receive Bibles. They are praying to be able to start new churches in some of these areas in the future as God opens the doors.
